So here is our round up of the hottest immersive tech trends we see taking the marketing world by storm in 2020 and how you can incorporate them into a fantastic marketing campaign.

AR FILTERS

With over 80% of people following at least one brand on Instagram and 60% of users reporting that they regularly discover new products on the platform, Instagram can be the perfect place to establish your brand. However, Augmented Reality (AR) can be seen as an expensive investment and can often take up massive chunks of any marketing budget. That is where AR filters come in. AR filters provide a low cost way to engage with potential clients while also providing that interactive element that your competitors may be lacking. AR filters can be one of the most versatile immersive tech marketing tools with simple branded filters offering a reusable tool that can be brought out at events to increase social engagement as well as a simple tool that can be used for many important dates that are staples in any marketing calendar (we’re looking at you Christmas).

IMMERSIVE VR DOME

An in person interactive experience such as a 360 dome is almost a guarantee that your event will be talked about for weeks to come. Virtual Reality (VR) can be an isolating experience and when you talk to people about immersive tech, they often conjure up ideas of solo experiences. That doesn’t have to be the case. With products like our CaVRn, the key to its success is just how sociable it is. Visitors can engage with their friends about what they are seeing, often carrying on that conversation when they leave. While live interactive experiences will provide a great ROI on social content that can be used for marketing material in future, it also helps revitalize good old fashioned word of mouth, which can still to this day bring fantastic opportunities for any business.

CUSTOM AR APPS

When people talk about AR apps, their mind often drifts to the mighty Pokemon Go and while certainly a powerhouse in the AR world, it only touches the surface in terms of what AR can actually do for a brand and a business. AR apps can be used to gather contact details for potential clients at an exhibition. Or, perhaps, used alongside custom markers to encourage visitors to explore new areas of a museum or even the latest ride at a theme park.

AR apps are also making their mark in the e-commerce world, with many big brands like Sephora and Ikea using the technology to really bring a new meaning to ‘try before you buy’. This isn’t just a marketing stunt either, with Ulta reporting that online shoppers using an AR app to try on makeup typically buy more compared to a customer shopping online without using the AR functions. Not only are AR apps a way to convert an unsure window shopper to a customer but they are also seen as the norm of the future with 70% of consumers expecting major retailers to have apps with AR functionality by the end of 2020.

AR MIRROR

AR mirrors should be a staple for any company at an exhibition or event. AR mirrors can provide a similar ROI as an AR filter in terms of social engagement while also giving visitors a ‘real life’ experience.

A fantastic example of this was our partnership with the Lythgoe Family Panto. Using an AR mirror, young panto goers were able to take selfies with their favorite princesses and then go and enjoy a show and see them up on the stage giving them more reasons to be invested in the action. This served a dual purpose. It created a great marketing tool to promote not only the show itself, but also an added value for the ticket price.

IMMERSIVE PROJECTION

Immersive projection has the potential to create something a little bit different. Using projection mapping whole worlds can be created for people to explore in spaces as large as your imagination. You can pair towering projections with sounds, smells and even lighting to create a truly one of a kind experience for any event.
