Laduma proudly sponsored A Match for Cancer on Saturday 8th September at Celtic park.

It’s now over a week since the charity football match which saw Celtic legend, Stiliyan Petrov – who has bravely battled through Leukaemia since being diagnosed in 2012 – and Liverpool FC midfielder, James Milner pull together opposing squads.

Celtic First Team Manager, Brendan Rodgers and his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp took charge of the respective squads and both had an array of talent at their disposal, from footballing legends, current players to TV stars.

The match was a roaring success with thousands in attendance. The two sides played out an exciting end-to-end match resulting in a 3-3 draw.

Proceeds will be donated to three equal beneficiary charities – Celtic FC Foundation, The Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and The James Milner Foundation, to help support the fight against cancer.

Laduma was extremely proud to support the event and spoke to those involved about why it meant so much to them, to be a part of the day.

Brendan Rogers said ‘I signed James for Liverpool FC so I knew what his qualities were. I didn’t get chance to work with him long enough. But a wonderful player and he’s shown his quality in this last season for LFC. ‘ He added, ‘It was great to see all the lads today. It was great to see Jurgen. The last time I saw him was when I handed over my house to him to look after. He’s been a very good tenant, so it was good to see him also.’

Laduma chatted with F2 freestyler Jeremy Lynch after the game. He explained how he got involved in playing in the charity game.
